We are pleased to highlight the Petroleum Fund and its crucial role in driving economic growth in Lesotho. Access to energy is essential for commerce, education, and innovation in our communities. Our Core Services

The Fund is committed to embarking on the petroleum investment that will not only ensure there is a security of supply of petroleum products in Lesotho but that investment opportunities are created for Basotho within the petroleum sector, as well as overall stimulation of the economy and job creation in the country. The Fund does regulate the prices of petroleum products within the country.

Fuel

There are three types of fuel that are being sold at filling stations in the country:

  • Petrol93
  • Petrol95
  • Diesel50

Thus, it is every motorist’s responsibility to ensure that the right fuel is pumped into their vehicles

Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPGas)

This is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as fuel in heating, refrigeration and lighting appliances, cooking equipment, and vehicles. It is a mixture of 48% propane, 50% butane, and 2% pentane.

Illuminating Paraffin (IP)

Illuminating Paraffin is a low sulphur fuel oil that is thin and colourless. It is used in several different forms, including paraffin wax and petroleum jelly.
