A joint efforts to combat smuggled petroleum products

The Petroleum Fund, in partnership with government agencies, is taking a strong stance against the smuggling and illegal importation of petroleum products in Lesotho. One of the main strategies currently under development is to introduce an integrated system that will verify the volumes of imported fuel at the entry borders.

The successful implementation of this initiative would be a significant step towards better compliance with industry laws and provide assurance regarding the safety and quality of imported products. This collaboration is a positive step towards promoting a legal and regulated petroleum market, which will enable the Fund and other government agencies to optimise tax collection and enhance the petroleum industry in Lesotho.
